Before & After Treatment
Acne Treatment
What is Acne?
Acne appears as raised, red infected lesions on the surface of the
skin, accompanied by blackheads and overproduction of dead skin cells.
The skin will look very inflamed, red and flaky.
Acne is caused by the bodies increased production of the hormone Androgen;
this stimulates the Sebaceous Glands causing more oil (sebum) to be
produced. The increase in the oil production causes the pores to become
blocked and the oil can no longer come up to the surface of the skin.
Skin bacteria feed on this trapped oil and multiply. As they multiply
they produce waste products and Sebacic Acid, this causes the redness,
inflammation and visible infection. Acne can occur in both men and women
during adolescence, or may only appear later in life as Adult Acne.
The light is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood and converted to heat. This heats up the fine blood vessels that supply blood to the sebaceous gland. This causes minor trauma to the gland and slows down the overproduction of the oil.
How many sessions will you need?Usually 3-6 sessions are required with approximately three weeks between
sessions. Acne is a very difficult condition to treat and results will
differ greatly on each individual’s skin, however, you can enhance your
results if you combine this treatment with others such as Microdermabrasion
and Glycolic
Peels.
We also have a very effective range of skin care called MD Formulations
that contain Alpha Hydroxy Acid and other specialised ingredient that
help exfoliate dead skin cells and increase moisturisation of your skin.
