Intense Pulsed Light
Ellipse Intense Pulsed Light Treatment
There is no shortage of inexpensive ways to remove hair or to treat
cosmetic problems like broken capillaries and sun damage. However our
aim is not to provide you with the cheapest solution, but rather the
best and most effective solution.
The Ellipse system is designed for physicians and medical professionals
and enables us to offer our clients safe and extremely effective treatments.
Intense Pulsed Light or IPL works in the same way as a Laser . Both
systems emit light rays that are absorbed by either the melanin in the
hair , the water in the skin or the red haemoglobin in the blood.
Laser uses light with only one specific wavelength, what this means
is it can only penetrate to a limited depth within the skin. IPL however
uses different wavelengths at carefully controlled speeds in order to
penetrate into the skin to different depths. This means that using an
IPL system is rather like using a group of lasers in one single treatment.
What can we treat with IPL?
- Removal of unwanted hair on all parts of the body.
- Treatment of vascular lesions, such as thread veins diffused redness, rosacea and broken capillaries.
- Treatment of pigmented lesions, such as age spots and freckles.
- Treatment of sun damaged skin, such as sun spots and irregular pore size.
- Treatment of acne.
Keep young and fresh
Most people would like to keep a young and fresh look for as long as possible, but due to sun exposure this is not easy. Sun has a variety of damaging effects on the skin, the most noticeable being the significant decrease in the production of collagen. This leads to a prematurely aged or tired look , and can in many cases make the skin appear thickened and leathery. Skin pigmentation disturbances are also very common, age spots an pigmented lesions are almost always present on a skin that has sun damage.
How do I know that I have signs of sun damage?
Sun damaged skin can be characterised by a loss of elasticity, broken capillaries, diffused redness and/or sun spots. You may also notice a slightly thickened, leathery type of texture to the skin. Some skins may have all of these characteristics, or just a few of them.
How does Ellipse work on these problems?Age spots contain a substance called Melanin and the blood vessels
contain Haemoglobin. When cells containing a lot of melanin or haemoglobin
are hit with the right type of light they heat up and are destroyed.
Treatments are most effective on skins where there is a pronounced
contrast between the age spot or blood vessel and the rest of the
skin, it is therefore more effective on skins that are not sun tanned
at the time of the treatment.
Collagen production is significantly increased due to fibroblast stimulation,
which will give the skin a smoother, fresher look and tighten the pores.
The number if sessions needed is dependant on the degree or severity of the sun damage and the colour of the surrounding skin, but usually 2-4 sessions are enough.
