Photo Rejuvenation

What is pigmentation?

Pigmentation is the presence of too much melanin pigment in one area which makes a visible brown mark or patch.

This is caused by over activity within the melanin producing cells, called melanocytes. Pigmentation can be caused by many things such as hormonal disturbances, the contraceptive pill, pregnancy, some medications, sun damage, using products with too much fragrance or preservative, or certain illnesses just to name a few.

Pigmentation can be found in the upper layers of the skin known as the Epidermis or in the lower layers known as the Dermis.

What can you do to treat it?

This is largely dependant on whether the pigment is Dermal or Epidermal. Epidermal pigmentation is much more successful to treat and fantastic results can be achieved with the use of Ellipse Intense Pulsed Light.

Normally dermal pigmentation is not treatable, as it is to deep within the layers of the skin and little or no result is achieved. But due to the wonders of modern science, we can now provide you an effective solution with Agera skin care products and Agera skin peels.

How many treatments will you need?

This would depend on how long you have had the pigmentation for, as well as the cause and severity. A thorough assessment is conducted in which we will recommend the type and number of treatments needed.

How does Ellipse intense pulsed light treat epidermal pigmentation?

The melanin in the skin absorbs the light, heats up and is destroyed. Your skin will then naturally shed these cells and the mark will become gradually lighter.

How do Agera products and peels work on dermal pigmentation?

After years of scientific research Agera Rx have medically formulated treatments ,that have been clinically proven to safely and effectively correct and prevent unwanted pigmentation. The products are used in conjunction with a series of peels which reduce the activity of the pigment producing cells.
