Photorejuvenation and Pigmentation
Photorejuvenation is used to treat Sun Damage, Pigmentation and Diffused
Redness
Pigmentation is the presence of too much melanin pigment in one area
which makes a visible brown mark or patch. This is caused by over activity
within the melanin producing cells, called melanocytes. Pigmentation
can be caused by many things such as hormonal disturbances, the contraceptive
pill, pregnancy, some medications, sun damage, using products with too
much fragrance or preservative, or certain illnesses just to name a
few.
This is largely dependant on whether the pigment is superficial or
deep Pigmentation. Superficial Pigmentation is much more successful
to treat and fantastic results can be achieved with the use of Ellipse
Intense Pulsed Light. A consultation will be required to ascertain whether
you're suitable for this treatment and a patch test will be required.
This would depend on how long you have had the Pigmentation for, as
well as the cause and severity. A thorough assessment is conducted in
which we will recommend the type and number of treatments needed.
The melanin in the skin absorbs the light, heats up and is destroyed.
Your skin will then naturally shed these cells and the mark will become
gradually lighter.
