What are Dermal Fillers?

Hyaluronic Acid is found naturally in the body, giving volume to the skin. As we get older the production of our natural Hyaluronic Acid is depleted, leaving wrinkles and other signs of aging. How do they work?

Once injected under the wrinkle or fold, the fillers gently lift the tissue reducing its appearance. Used in the lips it gives volume and definition.

Does the treatment hurt?

Some mild, temporary discomfort may be experienced, but this can be alleviated by the use of local anaesthetic.

How long does it last?

The effects are immediate and last between 6 and 12 months depending on the place being treated and individual response.

Are there any side effects?

As with any treatments that require injection there may be some discomfort, redness or swelling immediately after treatment. There may also be some localised tenderness. This is normal and will generally disappear in a day or two. Some people may experience a little bruising. Again this will be temporary and can be covered with light camouflage make-up.
