Thread Vein Removal

What is a thread Vein?

A thread vein is a small visible blood vessel near the surface of the skin. It is often quite unsightly and can have either a red or bluish colour. It can appear individually or in a cluster which are sometimes referred to as spider veins. The most common places for them to appear is on and around the nose and cheek area, sometimes even on the chin.

What can you do about them?

There are many treatments available for thread vein removal, many of which are unsuccessful. At HSCclinic, we use state of the art Ellipse Flex intense pulsed light to treat theses thread veins, on the face and neck area, safely and effectively.

How does it work?

The light is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood and converted to heat, this heat destroys the protein wall of the thread vein. The thread vein then gradually disappears after treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on the where the thread vein is and how big it is, generally 1-4 sessions are necessary. Most effective results are seen on light skins, as there is a more pronounced contrast between the vessel and the skin.

Does it hurt?

The sensation is similar to that of a warm rubber band snapping on the skin, but is completely tolerable and extremely fast.
